Faster, Daddy, Faster!
Not even one month after we got Tanner a real bike, he insisted we take off his training wheels. So, with the help of our neighbor, we obligingly removed the offending wheels.
Now, I'm sure you've all heard stories about children who have training wheels removed from their bikes and just take off like little rockets. That is precisely what Tanner thought he was going to do.
After a few laps around the cul-de-sac, however, Tanner quickly realized that it was not as easy as our neighbor made it look. Rob let go of Tanner for a third of a second, and that was all the freedom Tanner experienced. No sense of balance in that boy whatsoever. Which, really, was to be expected, but I suffer from delusions that my child ought to excel in his every endeavor, since he generally excels in so many. Apparently he was under the same delusion. Trying to balance and pedal at the same was hard work!
He hasn't touched his bike since. That was three days ago.

And Kevin put plenty of hats and scarves on his bike....for some reason known only to Kevin.
I'm certain Tanner will get the hang of it. So certain, in fact, that the previous sentence is rather silly, since every child who ever tries to learn to ride a bike usually succeeds in learning to ride a bike. Until then, I think some knee and elbow pads might be a worthwhile investment.

Love Slimey. I saw those at Toys R us. Very cute. Don't worry - David and Anna both still have training wheels even though lots of kids speed by us when we are out biking. We don't care as long as they pedal fast enough so the adult bikes don't fall over - or have to be walked!
Haha, that slimey bike is pretty funny! So do you think you'll put the training wheels back on?
