Canopy Beds---Not Just for Little Girls Anymore

I wanted a headboard for our king-sized bed. Rob struggled with the idea of spending money for something that served no function whatsoever. I dragged him along furniture shopping anyway, since I was the one who filed for the tax return. He smiled weakly at the headboards and sent out vibes. You know the vibes that husbands send out. So I was amazed when I pointed out a lovely headboard on a canopy bed and Rob agreed that it was very nice. He wasn't looking at the headboard---he was looking up at the canopy part. Thrilled that my husband approved of SOMEthing, I quickly agreed to get a canopy bed.

And so now we have it. And do you know what? The first thing that Rob hung from it was his COAT!!!! Insufferable man!

Anyhoo, it's a beautiful bed. HUGE. We had to remove our cozy nook (chairs and a table) because this bed takes up the entire room, visually. And we're still playing around with what to hang from it. (Not Rob's coat!!) One night we had white sheers in one corner, brown sheers in another, and beaded curtains near the head. Quite silly. Shoulda gotten a picture of that!

Currently it has curtains and beads. We'd welcome any feedback/suggestions. I think it looks like a bald man with nothing across the top, but it is brimming with potential and we love its graceful curves. And here I shall end this post.

I could picture your shopping trip with Rob pretty clearly. So funny! The bed is really beautiful, has kind of a foreign, morroccan look with those pretty beads.

oh how lovely! the colors are beautiful. Tom would never let us get something like that, but it's gorgeous and I'm terrible at interior decorating, so I have no ideas for you. I like the beads!

I would visit the clearance section of a fabric store and find a real airy chiffon to just wrap here and there in a casual way. Oh this is grandma chase again...I'm BACK! Lovely bed, very poetic.
